Program Outline – Our 37th Year
After all these years, we are proud of
players who have attended the NYBA. Many of them have gone on to be
successful in High School, College, and Professional Baseball. This is
where it all started.
At the Academy, parents and players have
realized that “We Can Make the
Difference”. Players receive a workout schedule that fits
into
our structured daily routine. Willingness to learn and be instructed by
our experienced staff will determine your progress each week.
- Initially,
students are grouped by age
and then regrouped by their ability. Our player to staff ratio was
6.6:1 (2011).
- Daily instructional
program will stress the fundamentals of Hitting, Fielding, Throwing, Speed
Development, Basestealing & Flexibility Training.
- Each player will
personally select and participate in a Daily
Position
Workshop (Specialties
- Pitching, Catching, & Infield).
- Students will
participate
in Instructional Games on a daily basis.
Coaches will stress Defensive and Offensive play with emphasis on Team
Effort.
- Daily
Awards. "World
Series
Games" are held each Friday.
- Each player receives
a
Comprehensive Written Evaluation with
suggestions for improvement at the conclusion of each session.
Multiple Week Enrollments
Most of our students enroll in more than one
week throughout the summer. Enrollments do not have be in consecutive
weeks. Players have a greater chance to improve their skills by
choosing a multiple week enrollment. There is a sliding discounted
scale for multiple week enrollments.
Multiple week students experience :
 |
Different set of
Coaches and Specialists are assigned each week. |
 |
Players have an
opportunity to change specialties each week. |
 |

 |
Players are assigned to
their initial group each week based on their previous evaluation,
coach’s recommendation and subsequent testing each week. |
Parents’ Day
At the NYBA, parents are welcome to view the
program anytime throughout the week. Schedules for each group are
established on a weekly basis. Parents should call the NYBA office to
determine the best time to visit the program. Many parents chose to
visit on Fridays, which is our traditional “World Series
Day.”
Following the day’s instruction and games, there is a brief
awards
ceremony to honor each participant as well as the selected award
winners.
