18th Annual Summer Baseball School 2008

DIRECTOR: Bob Hirschfield - Presently the Head Coach at New York Tech. While at N.Y. Tech over 50 of his players have signed professional contracts and 4 of his players were selected as Division 1 All- Americans. He is the founder of the New York Baseball Academy, “Long Island’s first and best instructional program”. Baseball America has named the New York Baseball Academy one of the top five instructional programs in the nation.

COORDINATOR: Mike Caulfield - Assistant Coach at New York Tech and veteran instructor for the NYBA. Played collegially at NYIT after graduating from Bethpage High School. At Bethpage Mike was an All- County selection in 2 sports (Baseball and Football).

GUEST INSTRUCTOR: John Lonardo - Athletic Director and Baseball Coach at SUNY Old Westbury College. Additional instructors will include College and High School coaches as well as other members of the NYBA staff. This will insure proper attention is given to each player.

DATES: JUNE 30, JULY 1, 2, 3, AND JULY 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 (9:30 - 1:30 daily) 9 days - no class on Friday, July 4th

AGES: 7 -13

LOCATION: Borella Field - Borella Field is located on Plainview Rd. Southbound on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (Rt. 135) Exit 9. There is a light at the end of the exit. Make a left at the light (Broadway) Broadway becomes Plainview Rd. Follow road 8/10 of a mile. Field is on the right-hand side. Northbound on the Seaford Oyster bay Expressway (Rt.135) Exit 9. When exiting, continue straight onto Plainview Rd. Head north 7/10 of a mile. Field is on the right.

EQUIPMENT: All players must bring a bat and glove, wear long pants or baseball pants and hat.

TUITION:  $295 (9 days) A family discount for $20 applies for 2 or more players. Tuition includes a NYBA shirt and all other equipment necessary for the program. Team rate discounts are not available for any of our local site programs. This is a fundraising activity for the Bethpage Baseball Association.

OUTLINE OF PROGRAM

All players will be grouped by age and regrouped by ability. Our capable staff will supervise each player and every student will receive individual instruction in the areas of fielding, throwing and base running. Particular emphasis will be placed on hitting skills and individual position play.
